28th April 2008
Now that the hangovers have
disappeared we can take a glance at the League website which
confirms that we are indeed Premier League Champions, and in doing
so become the first side from Felixstowe to take the title in the 40
years history of the Ipswich Sunday League. Already talk is of
retaining the title next season, so it will have to be a patient few
months before we commence the next campaign.
The
Premier League Trophy will be presented to the club at our end of
season dinner which will be held at the end of May, along with
winners medals.
Even though he may have been under the influence of Fosters, we can
exclusively reveal that club legend Terry Atwell has vowed to carry
on playing next season.
Congratulations have come in from everywhere, we'll post some of
them up here:
Hi Barry,
Just a quick note to say congratulations to you, Terry and all the
team at Ferryboat on winning the league, i am sure you are worthy
champions.
Hope you have a great summer and look forward to refereeing you all
soon.
Kind regards,
Louis Dawson
Well done to you and all your lads and
thanks for the kind words Sunday as well as your support
through out the season.
Regards.
Mike Hamilton (referee from sunday and
league official)
Hey Baz and The Boys
Congratulations to you all from Australia.
I remember what it was like winning Ferry's first bit of silverware
(Junior cup) a few years back. So i hope you enjoy this moment just
as much.
A special mention to you Baz, well done for all you have done for
Ferryboat fc and for sunday football in felixstowe, you deserve this
mate!
Again well done boys and lets not let it be another 40 years before
a felixstowe team do it again.
SMARTY
(still top goalscorer for Ferryboat fc)
Congratulations on winning the Premier League Title.
Please pass on my best wishes to your
players, officials and supporters it is a throughly deserved
honour and I hope the we kept the trophy in good condition.
Maybe next year we can take it back from you. Anyway enjoy the
moment and if it is any help we had about 6 weeks of
celebrations. It is a major acheivement to win the biggest Sunday
Morning League in Suffolk and there ain't many teams out there
that can say that. Anyway have a good close season and we look
forward to seeing you in 2008/09.
Kind Regards
Jay
Belstead Arms F.C.

to do is repeat the event next year.
Enjoy your celebrations which i am sure will be a memorable event
Paul Emsden ex Witnesham FC
Hey Boys Great News Well done, will be back on
Tuesday , Jim Lee
Well done boys ! Superb! All that early effort was
worth it . John Blackmore (no doubt taking the credit for his
efforts in getting everyone for a prematch breakfast before every
game in his time at the club!!
Fantastic news and well done to u all, have a good
afternoon Griff (secretary Felixstowe Harpers)
27th April 2008
After grinding out a 3-0 victory
against Whitton Maypole we heard that Martlesham OB had lost 5-1
which meant that FerryBoat had been crowned Premier League champions
2007/08. More details to follow on Monday once the celebrations have
died down!!
9th March 2008
After the clubs 5-0 victory against
Harpers, the news was broken to both teams that former FerryBoat
player Mike Agar had died last night while out with friends from
Felixstowe in Birmingham. Details are sketchy at this stage as to
the cause of his death but both teams' players and officials were
shocked to hear the news. The club sends it's sympathy to the family
of Mike at such a sad time
2nd March 2008
A fine performance today against a
strong Belstead Arms team earnt us a 2-1 victory. Goals came from
Shaun Pugh and Steve Ray.
24th February 2008.
Six goals for us but some diabolical
defending allowed Harpers to net four in return today. At the end of
the day its three points but we can't afford to play like that again
in our remaining five games. our goals came from Steve Ray (2) ,
Terry Atwell, Dan Clarke, Danny Smith and a screamer from Sean Ryan.
Before the harpers game Terry Atwell was presented with a surprise
birthday cake to celebrate his 43rd birthday yesterday. Terry now
claims the record as the oldest ever player, and continues to
produce match winning displays as today's game proved.
18th February 2008
Its back to League action this week
with a local derby against Felixstowe Harpers. The next six weekends
will decide our final position in the Premier Division.
10th February 2008
For the first time in weeks we managed
to get 3 subs on the bench and it paid dividends with a 6-1
demolition of old rivals Locomotive. Dan Clarke caused most damage,
bagging 4 goals with the others from Steve Ray and Shaun Pugh. Not
all good news though, as James Turley missed the game with a knee
injury, Shaun Pugh picked up a nasty knock and Barney Collins leaves
this week for a two month break. Will we see one more signing before
the deadline?
3rd February 2008
Its crisis time at the Ferry ! Already
rocked by injuries, we heard before kick off that Shaun Pugh, Jimmie
Billington and captain Steve Ray had joined the list. Nevertheless
we fielded our last 11 players and went to top of the table
Martesham Old Boys. All was going not too bad untill John Barrell
left the field with a hamstring injury, and down to ten men Terry
Atwell then suffered a back strain but soldiered on. Final score was
5-2 but no discredit to the players, the main concern is who will be
fit for next week?
30th January 2008
PJ has contacted us from his tour of
Africa:
hello lads hows things.
probably struggling without your main midfield man ruling the pitch.
having a great time away from u lot in africa im in kenya at the
moment and the situation is not that good but im ok cuz im white and
they no my rep. saw the gorillas the other week 8 of them in total
and i have to say most of them looked like r team especially sean
and matt ray u would have thought it was them.
anyway off for a jog now with the kenyan champion, im going to put
him though his paceses.
hope the season going well
Glad to see he's still full of shit!!
27th January 2008
After an enforced break it was back to
League action and a good game against Woodbridge ended in a 1-1
draw. Dan Clarke got the goal for us, but he also had one disallowed
for a dodgy offside decision plus we hit the woodwork 3 times.
13th January 2008
A host a of injuries and call offs saw
us field an unfamiliar looking side against Kirton who were back to
full strength after their recent problems. Kirton won the game
convincingly 5-0 and we now have a break with no game next week to
try and get our squad back on the pitch.
6th January 2008
A poor first half saw us crash out of
the cup against Capel Plough. Half time saw us 3-0 down and we
managed to stop the rot and "only" lose the match 4-1 but things
will have to improve in the league if we want to maintain our
position. Credit to capel though who were as good as most that we
have seen in the Premier this season.
The
result saw manager Barry Glover launch into the transfer market, and
another new signing is expected to be announced this week.
23rd December 2007
Our last game of 2007 saw us beat top
of the table rivals Whitton Kings Head 3-2. Shaun Pugh scored the
opener on his debut before having to retire after a knock on the
ankle after only half an hour. Dan Clarke scored the other two for
Ferry to keep up his personal challenge for the Premier Golden Boot.
16th December 2007
Locomotive beat us 2-1 today in a game
where we had plenty of the game but failed to convert it into goals.
A goal by Terry Atwell came four minutes from the end but Locomotive
held on.
This week has been a busy week in the transfer market, the club can
confirm 2 new signings which will give the squad a boost. The club
welcomes Lee Parry and Shaun Pugh who are already well known by a
lot of us.
10th December 2007.
Belstead Arms have postponed our
fixture planned for 30th December. The game will be rearranged for
later in the season.
9th December 2007
A strong performance was too much for
Wickham Market who we beat 3-0 today to go to the top if the Premier
Division. A Dan Clarke hat trick provided the goals.
Kirtons game against Whitton KH was cancelled as Kirton were unable
to field a team.
2nd December 2007
We bounce back this week with a fine
3-1 victory at Ipswich Police. Goals came from Dan Clarke, Steve Ray
and PJ but it was a good all round team performance.
25th November 2007
A bad day at the office as we go down
4-1 at home to Kelsale. The visitors were strong but our poor
display did not help things.
18th November 2007.
Goals a plenty at Whitton where we
played Whitton Maypole. After going ahead on 3 seperate occasions we
were pegged back each time but eventually we were too much for our
hosts and we ran out 6-3 winners. Goals came from Dan Clarke (3)
Steve Ray, Barney Collins and James Turley.
14th November 2007
At last the team photo sorted.
One player doubtful for Sunday unless
he recovers

13th November 2007
Team photo number 3, almost there
Chico, still being camp, Jimmy Savilles hand hasn't moved
12th November 2007
Team photo number 2 is now on the home
page. Still not good enough.
Steve - You're supposed to be club captain
Terry - I know you're getting old but you haven't opened your eyes
yet
Jimmy Saville - Where is your right hand?
Chico - Say no more
Oh
well there always photo number 3 , to be posted up on Wednesday
11th November 2007
A good result today as we beat high
flying Martlesham Old Boys 5-2. Danny Smith scored twice with Terry
Atwell , Dan Clarke and an own goal making up the rest.
Those at the match will know we updated the team photo. We had four
attempts, the first is currently on the home page. The next will
appear on Tuesday. Points raised from the first -
What was Barney and Matt Ray looking at?
Is
this Dan Hammonds hard look?
Joe
- stop mincing.
Steve and Terry - how old are you, grow up.
Smiffy - how did you get to sit next to Jimmy Saville?
Jim
Lee made a rare appearance for the club, back in Felixstowe for a
few weeks before heading out to New Mexico for the winter.
4th November 2007
The website takes a new look
today, we hope you like it.
4th November 2007
We were second best against
Ipswich Police and went out of the Suffolk Cup in the third round.
After going behind to a penalty we equalised through a fine goal
from Dan Clarke, but Police regained the lead just before the break
and held on for the second half.
1st November 2007
Training - I've said it
before but well done to all of you on the efforts to make training
this season. We have been averaging about 12 which as I've said is a
fantastic effort for a club with only one team. I really believe
it's helping in our results this season as fitness and team spirit
has been at a high in all our games. Cheers Barry
28th October 2007
The club is pleased to
announce this afternoon the signing of Zoltan Major. The Hungarian
has been training with us so is familiar to a lot of the players
already.
28th October 2007
This last week has seen our
website record it's 15,000th hit
